- Telephone cabling
The telephone cabling from your network boundary (where the phone services are delivered to just inside your building) to where you need a phone is now your responsibility to get a licenced cabler to do. Your service provider will charge extra on the line installation job for new cabling - if they will do it!
Standard telephone cable can be ran to suit your needs, but in today's world this may not be the wisest choice. It does depend on how your current cabling is done, but this can be changed. The days of using your cabling just for your phone are nearly over. Today's structured cabling using Cat5E or Cat6 cabling allows you to use the wall outlets for either phone or data purposes.
- Data cabling
Structure cabling using Cat5E or Cat6 with patch panels allows your business to change your cabling requirements as it is needed - adding versatility in its usage.
Cat5E cabling is rated to 100M bit whilst Cat6 is rated to 1G bit. Most PC's today are fitted with Gigabit LAN cards but most older hardware is 100Mb and speed is really dependant on your usage. To a server, Gigabit may be useful, but to the internet, your bandwidth is the main restriction. There is a substantial cost differential between Cat5E and Cat6.
- Data and Phone Patching
Has your Data and Telephone patch panel started to look like spagetti? If this is the case, we can clean up your patch panel and record all the current connections. This would probably need to be done out of office hours to prevent outages on your business systems.
A clean patch panel is easier to maintain and prevents dropped connections, because leads unsupported and not clicked in properly can easy drop out unnoticed whilst patching other services.
- TV/MATV cabling
Strephonics can arrange for testing and installation of TV/MATV cabling.
With the arrival of Digital TV, different requirements are needed of your cabling and distribution system. Certain problems may come to a head when tuning to new channels used by Digital. Older Aerials or cables may not work for best picture results and digital will block out on poor signals. Likewise, older distribution systems may need upgrading or replacement to ensure the best picture quality.
Quadshield RG6 cable is the best to use and on long runs, we recommend using Quadshield RG11. The requirements for your particular system must be well designed to prevent picture loss.
